Sierra Roadwork Schedule: Aug. 18-24, 2013


Long-term projects

State Route 49 (Nevada County) work has resumed on the $29 million Highway 49/La Barr Meadows Project that will widen State Route 49 to four lanes between Little Valley Road and Norambagua Way, just south of Grass Valley. The project includes a signalized intersection at La Barr Meadows Road, widening of shoulders, adding right-turn pockets and new sound walls. Completion is expected in August 2013.

Aug. 18-23

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Alta Sierra to Norambgua Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous work.

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada counties) from Carpenter Flat to Hampshire Rock: Work continues on the $105 million Emigrant Gap project on Interstate 80. Work includes total roadway replacement with Portland Cement Concrete, improving the drainage systems and installing new sediment/debris collection systems. Completion is expected in October 2013. 

Aug. 19-23

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada counties) from Cisco Grove to Yuba Gap: Motorists can expect various eastbound and westbound lane and ramp closures from midnight Monday through noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at a time to allow for local access.

Aug. 20

State Route 49 (Nevada County) at Hampshire Rocks: Westbound motorists can expect a full highway closure from midnight to 3 a.m. Tuesday. A contractor is scheduled to do overhead sign work. A detour using the Hampshire Rock on- and off-ramps will be available.

July 30–Aug. 28

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada counties) from just east of Cisco Grove: Motorists can expect split traffic lanes from July 30 through Aug. 28. A contractor is scheduled to finish bridge deck work. Motorists are encouraged to limit unnecessary lane changes when approaching the area.

Short-term projects

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Chalk Bluff Road to Interstate 80: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls in various locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Pet Hill to Uren Street: Motorists can expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane and ramp closures from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday (10 a.m. Saturday). A contractor is scheduled to grinding and paving work. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at one time to allow for motorist access.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the State Route 49/20 junction to Gold Flat Road: Motorists can expect eastbound and westbound lane and ramp closures on and near bridge structures from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to bridge deck work. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at one time to allow for motorist access.

State Route 49 (El Dorado and Placer counties) from State Route 193 in Cool to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from the Placer County line to Wolf Road/Combie Road: Motorists can expect various lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 49 (Placer County) from Joeger Road to Bell Road: Motorists can expect southbound No. 2 closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Lemon Canyon/Campbell Hot Springs to the Plumas County line: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do shoulder work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Downieville to Yuba Pass Summit: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.
