Jacob (Jake) Martin Pasner, a 2009 graduate of Nevada Union High School, was awarded a Bachelor of Science in physics June 15 from the University of California, Davis.
He worked in the physics department for nearly three years as a lab technician, conducting and publishing research and helping to build a “clean room” and participating in international research teams in high energy physics.
Pasner received numerous awards and honors during his four years at UC Davis, including being inducted as a junior into the honor society Phi Kappa Phi for his overall scholarship, as well as into the prestigious academic society for physicists, Sigma Pi Sigma.
He graduated magna cum laude and was named the Outstanding Student of the Physics Department by the professors of the department, as well as receiving an award from the UC Davis Alumni Association as the top physics department graduating senior based on leadership, academic record and extra-curricular activities.
He has accepted a fellowship with full tuition and salary at the Institute for Particle Physics at the University of California at Santa Cruz this fall.
Pasner is the son of Mike Pasner of Penn Valley and Elizabeth “Izzy” Martin of Grass Valley.
