Roadwork slated for the Sierra


Long-term projects

State Highway 49 (Nevada County) Work has resumed on the $29 million Highway 49/La Barr Meadows Project that will widen State Route 49 to four lanes between Little Valley Road and Norambagua Way, just south of Grass Valley. The project includes a signalized intersection at La Barr Meadows Road, widening of shoulders, right-turn pockets and new sound walls. Completion is expected by summer 2013. No traffic interfering work is scheduled.

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada Counties) from Carpenter Flat to Hampshire Rock: Work continues on the $105 million Emigrant Gap project on Interstate 80. Work includes total roadway replacement with Portland Cement Concrete, improving the drainage systems and installing new sediment/debris collection systems. Completion is expected in the fall of 2013.

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada County) from Cisco Grove to Yuba Gap: Motorists can expect various eastbound and westbound lane and ramp closures from Midnight Monday through noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at a time to allow for local access.

Short-term projects

State Route 20 (Nevada and Yuba Counties) from Mooney Flat Road to Upper Smartsville Road: Motorists can expect the eastbound No. 2 closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Pet Hill to Uren Street: Motorists can expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane and ramp closures from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday Friday. A contractor is scheduled to miscellaneous construction work. No two consecutive ramp will be closed at one time to allow for motorist access.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the State Route 49/20 junction to Gold Flat Road: Motorists can expect east and westbound lane and ramp closures on and near bridge structures from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to bridge deck work. No two consecutive ramp will be closed at one time to allow for motorist access.

State Route 49 (El Dorado and Placer Counties) from State Route 193 in Cool to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) at the South Fork Yuba River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do bridge work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Oak Tree Road to the Middle Fork Yuba River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous work.

State Route 49 (Yuba and Sierra Counties) from Marysville Road to Yuba Pass Summit: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada and Sierra Counties) from Kingvale to the Nevada State line: Motorists can expect various eastbound and westbound lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Gold Run to the Nevada County line: Motorists can expect various eastbound and westbound lane closures from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from State Route 193 to Gold Run: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

Interstate 80 (Sierra County) at Nevada State Line: Motorists can expect east and westbound lane restrictions from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Maintenance crews are scheduled for emergency work to clear a landslide.

State Route 174 (Placer County) from the Nevada County line to Interstate 80: Motorist can expect one-way traffic controls in various locations from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

State Route 174 (Placer County) at Colfax: Motorist can expect one-way traffic controls in various locations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do bridge work.

Unexpected schedule changes may occur.
