This year, Daisy Troop 505 has been learning all about animals, themselves and others as part of their “Three Cheers for Animals” journey.

The year started by decorating scarves for dogs and cats at Sammie’s Friends to wear during photo shoots for newspaper adoption articles. The troop thought that the scarves might help the animals become more adoptable.

Later in the year, kitty toys were made out of simple items from home in hopes of helping the cats adjust to shelter life and to have a little kitty fun.

On Thursday, the troop members were able to visit the animal shelter to bring the scarves and toys they made.

“The girls have eagerly awaited this day, they are excited to donate part of their cookie sales profit to our fine furry friends at Sammie’s Friends who will look adorable in these handmade creations,” said troop co-leaders Christy Sherr and Wendy Rybicki.

“We all feel fortunate to be able to give back and to be a part of such a great cause.”
