Two speakers at Thursday’s meeting of Nordic Skiers of Nevada County will address the club about February’s Sierra snow survey. Kevin McCombe of the U.S. Forest Service, who led the crew that conducted the Tahoe National Forest survey south of I-80, will speak first and describe how a traditional snow survey is conducted near Huysink Lake. In addition to describing the skiing experience, McCombe will explain what tools are used and what they are measuring about the snow. Sue Sindt of the Nevada Irrigation District will follow up with a discussion on other ways crews get to snow survey locations …
