CAWS, the Coaliton of Animal Welfare and Support, is sponsoring the Nevada County Animal Control Officer of the Year Award for 2012, which will be given at a banquet at 6 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Holbrooke Hotel. “The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding efforts by Animal Control officers and to encourage a high level of professionalism and care for animal welfare,” said Kathy Monteiro, CAWS director.
