Virginia Press

Virginia E. Press died Dec. 25 at her daughter's home. She was 95.

Private services will be held on Jan. 27, 2008, in Southern California. Interment will take place at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale.

Mrs. Press was born Oct. 20, 1912, in Los Angeles to Norman Horton West and Nelle Hodges. She graduated from high school in Highland Park. She married Clarence Press in 1943 in Fountain, Colo.

Mrs. Press worked at Baker Quartz Hill High School. She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and enjoyed sewing, baking and pinochle.

Mrs. Press is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Burton of Penn Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Judy Press of Campobello, S.C.; granddaughter, Andrea Kaldhusdal; grandsons Jeffery Burton and Daniel and Michael Press; and great-grandsons Matt and Mark Murray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Press.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway in Grass Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
