Mildred I. Washington died Feb. 20 at her home in Grass Valley. She was 82.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 1, at the Trolley Junction Restaurant.
Mrs. Washington was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Westfield, Mass., to Catherine (Savage) and Harry Jones. She received a bachelor of science in chemistry from the University of Montana. She married Allyn J. Washington on June 7, 1958, in Westfield, Mass.
Mrs. Washington worked as a chemistry instructor at Boise Junior College from 1956 to 1958. She worked as a real estate agent from 1980 to 1985. Her primary job was as a homemaker. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and enjoyed bridge and travel.
Mrs. Washington is survived by her husband, Allyn Washington, of Grass Valley; daughters and sons-in-law Margy (Swackhamer) and Chuck Schroeder, of Grass Valley, and Joanne (Washington) and John Baron, of Longment, Colo.; granddaughter and husband, Alisa and Justin Dunlap, of Portland, Ore., and grandson Tyler Baron, of Longment, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Jones; first husband, John Swackhamer and mother, Catherine Schnaitman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
