Earlier this week, the Nevada Irrigation District (NID) conducted one of the most important snowpack assessments of the year.
“The bottom line is that April 1 snowpack water content is 35 percent of average,” NID spokesman Dave Carter wrote in an early morning email to The Union. “Just slightly above the statewide 32 percent level.”
Today’s numbers are up significantly from the last NID snow survey, conducted Feb. 3, which found local snowpack water content at just 7 percent of average.
Carter said that more information will be available later this morning. Check back with The Union for a full report, including what this means for municipal water customers in Nevada City.
