Not every child enjoys the blessings of Christmas.
Pastor Sandra Chipchase and Word-A-Live! member Cyndy Prout are doing something about that.
On Dec. 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the organization, “Christmas Child/Savannah’s Angels” will host an event at the Church’s Christmas Party. Anyone aware of children in the community who wouldn’t have a Christmas are encouraged to let the church know so they can reach out.
“My time has all been providing for families, and one of my big outlets for the past three years has been Hope House,” Chipchase said. “They house people having problems with addiction. I’ve been getting into Hope House and getting the names of children and the mothers and the families and doing whatever I can to help. I also help with others in need in the area around the holiday season.”
“I would call it a miracle for these families because that’s what it is. ”Pastor Sandra Chipchase
So far, the list of children in need totals more than 400. Each of the kids gets personalized presents. The Dec. 16 party allows the kids to pick up their gifts, eat Christmas snacks, sing Christmas carols and enjoy a festive Christmas for both the kids and their families.
“It’s the community coming together and helping these people,” Chipchase said. “I would call it a miracle for these families because that’s what it is. It takes a load off these families who just feel horrible that they can’t provide for Christmas.”
Prout takes her efforts a step further. She works for Savannah’s Angels and also works in ministry for World-A-Live! Church, focusing on those working their way through addiction.
“Cyndy does it all year round,” Chipchase said. “She’s involved in an outreach program that helps all year long. They may need a bed or clothes. Anything needed for families she’s there to help them.”
Anyone with skills who can help stage the event, offer finances, support, prayers and contacts of names of those who could benefit are encouraged to contact the church at 530-432-9155. Word-A-Live! is located at 10528 Spencerville Road in Penn Valley.
Donations to the nonprofit organization may be sent to WAL, P.O. Box 1477, Penn Valley, California 95946. Those providing gifts will receive a receipt for their donations.
