Woman kidnapped from Alta Sierra home, Nevada County authorities say

A Grass Valley man accused of forcing a woman into her car before driving from the scene faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, authorities said.

Sean Leonard Carstens, 37, also is charged with threatening to commit a crime, inflicting injury and a probation violation, Nevada County Jail records state.

Arrested Saturday, Carstens remained in jail Monday without bond, reports state.

The charges stem from a 3 p.m. Saturday argument at a Little Valley Road residence near Alta Sierra, said Nevada County Sheriff's Capt. Shannan Moon.

During the argument, Carstens said he'd cut the woman. Moments later he got inside her Honda sedan, Moon said.

"As she was trying to keep him from starting the vehicle, she somehow got inside the vehicle and he drove off," Moon said. "She said he grabs her, pulls her into the vehicle and takes off."

Carstens drove about five miles, to Gary and Sean ways, where he stopped, the captain said.

"He takes off on foot and she calls us," Moon said. "She's got some injuries that are consistent with her statement."

Deputies then went to the Little Valley Road home, where they found Carstens and arrested him, she added.
