John Wayne Hill, 32, booked into the Nevada County jail on Jan. 18 on charges related to sexual acts with a minor.

A San Francisco software designer remained behind bars Sunday in lieu of $2.5 million bail on charges of sexual acts with a minor under 16 years old, according to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.

Details are scarce on the Saturday arrest of John Wayne Hill, 32, because the arresting sheriff's officer had not yet filed a report on the matter as of press time Sunday, said Sgt. Tim Warner.

Hill, whose Linkin.com account indicates he works for the San Francisco-based interactive development studio Stimulant, was reportedly arrested at 2:43 p.m. Saturday in the Nevada City SPD Market grocery store's parking lot on the 700 block of Zion Street by the Nevada County Sheriff's office, not the Nevada City Police Department, Warner said.

Hill is charged with three felonies: sex with a minor under 16 years old, oral copulation with a minor under 16 years old and oral copulation with a minor under 14 years old, according to the Nevada County jail's booking logs.

Even if an arrest report had been filed, few details are released about victims who are minors, Warner said. They did note that the victim could not have been any older than half of Hill's age and that the alleged acts took place in Nevada County.

Though not unheard of, Hill's $2.5 million bail is a high amount by Nevada County standards.
