Rain, rain on its way for western Nevada County
March 21, 2013
A small storm is expected to hit Nevada County this week as a rain system moves through the area.
The storm is predicted to last all day today and clear off Thursday, according to George Cline, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
“There’s a low-pressure system that’s pushing on through, coming from the gulf of Alaska and moving east, and behind it, we have a little bit of a high-pressure ride setting up, which means clearing and dry, warming temperatures,” Cline said.
Rain accumulation will be from 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch, Cline said. The highs for Wednesday are expected to reach the low to mid-50s with a low of 40 degrees.
Thursday is expected to warm up with highs in the upper 50s and a mild weekend with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the lower 40s.
Winds from 10 to 15 miles per hour can be expected with the storm Wednesday and will subside thereafter.
“The storm passes through (Wednesday) and will be out of the way Thursday,” Cline said. “The rest of the weekend looks clear and mild.”
