February 14, 2014
Narcotics detectives conducting a probation search ending up arresting five men on warrants and drug charges.
Jeffery Scott Waters had been arrested by members of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force in mid-November after they reportedly discovered a honey oil lab in his residence.
He is facing charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance, and was scheduled to be in court on that case today.
At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, task force members revisited Waters’ residence on the 13000 block of Ryan Ranch Road.
Waters was not present, but a man identified as Travis Lee Warhurst, 31, was asleep in the residence, said a task force spokesman.
Waters then showed up with a third man, identified as Ryan Michael Bailey, 39, of Grass Valley.
Detectives reportedly found 10 pounds of processed marijuana in the residence, as well as several grams of concentrated cannabis and some prescription narcotics.
They also seized a firearm, the spokesman said.
After the three men were detained, a man identified as Jerry Andrew Valizan, 60, of Grass Valley, arrived at the door and was reportedly found with 10.5 grams of methamphetamine packaged in 15 individual baggies.
Warhurst was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and possessing a controlled substance and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Waters was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, committing a felony while on bail, violating probation and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked and released on $21,750 bail.
Bailey was booked on an outstanding out-of-county warrant and released on $22,000 bail.
Valizan was charged with possessing a controlled substance, possessing and transporting a controlled substance for sale and possessing drug paraphernalia.
He was booked and released on $36,000 bail.
A search warrant subsequently was served at Valizan’s residence.
A man at the property identified as Andrew James Ciaffoni, 33, was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on drug charges and was being held in lieu of $4,000 bail.
