Police blotter: Man fall for grandson scam

9:50 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Rhode Island Street reported several occasions of theft and tampering with mail and a mailbox.
9:59 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Neal Street reported a shoplifter.
10:22 a.m. — A woman from Hughes Road and Lidster Avenue reported a man beating his dogs who "cussed" at her when she yelled at him to stop. He was gone when officers arrived.
1:36 p.m. — A caller from Ophir and Bennett streets reported finding a hypodermic needle.

2:44 p.m. — A caller from East Main Street and Hughes Road reported a physical fight, with a woman pushing another woman out of a vehicle and then trying to run her over. Both had left the scene.
4:13 p.m. — A woman from the 100 block of Upper Slate Creek Road reported an assault last week.
5:17 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Neal Street reported a teen took a bottle of Jack Daniels. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, being in possession of stolen property and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
6:04 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Hughes Road reported a $100 counterfeit bill.
6:14 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported a boy who had been out of control and lighting fires in the house. The boy had been locked out but was kicking the door.
7:43 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Fiddick Lane reported a possible trespasser next door; no one was located.
7:46 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported finding a syringe.
10:03 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Mill Street reported a physical fight between two women; no charges were desired.
12:12 a.m. — A caller from Bennett and Ophir streets reported hearing loud shrieking; no one was located.

9:46 a.m. — A caller from Lyman Gilmore School reported a juvenile brandished a knife on campus. The juvenile was cited on unknown charges.
10:32 a.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Brooks Road reported a window pane had been broken and items were missing.
12:15 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Paradise Drive reported a theft from a mailbox. A package of men's underwear worth $68 was taken.
3:14 p.m. — A caller from Matas Wecks Drive and Rough and Ready Highway reported the back of mailboxes had been removed. The locks were being drilled out of the back of mailboxes between Marysville and Rough and Ready.
3:23 p.m. — A woman from the 12000 block of Somerset Drive reported a man with a history of animal abuse might have euthanized a cat. A reported was taken.
6:57 p.m. — A woman from the 10000 block of Horton Street reported a woman pushed her.
8 p.m. — A caller from Pleasant Valley Road and Biladeau Lane reported mailboxes had been vandalized and checks stolen.
8:12 p.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Lake Wildwood Drive reported continual vandalism to exterior lights and electrical.
8:13 p.m. — A man from the 19000 block of Chaparral Circle reported he sent $2,900 via Western Union after being told his grandson was in jail in Santa Cruz, and now realizes he was scammed.
1:19 a.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Willow Valley Road reported a man crashed into a fence with his vehicle and left the scene.

10:06 a.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Broad Street reported a physical fight with a man throwing items. At 11:01, he had returned and was screaming and shouting.
11:29 a.m. — A caller from Nimrod Street requested a welfare check on a boy who was sitting on the curb, staring at the sky with his mouth open.
