Penn Valley woman back in jail on more drug charges
November 13, 2013
A Penn Valley woman hoping to be admitted to drug court after being arrested in August on meth sales charges is back in county jail.
Members of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at the residence of Dawn Theresa Lee Monday and reportedly uncovered a large stash of meth and cash.
Lee was out on bail for the prior arrest with search and seizure terms, said Deputy John Dzioba. A search of her home in the 19000 block of Penn valley Drive uncovered approximately a quarter-pound of meth with a street value of about $9,000, Dzioba said.
Deputies reportedly also located $1,200 in cash, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.
A man at the residence, identified as James Vincent Jones, was found to be in possession of 12 grams of cocaine, packaging material and a digital scale, Dzioba said.
Jones, 25, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale. His bail was set at $35,000.
Lee, 41, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance for sale, failing to comply with a court order and committing a felony while on bail. She was being held in lieu of $70,750 bail.
Her August arrest also stemmed from a search warrant; deputies reportedly found about 25 grams of meth, $700 and drug paraphernalia. She was charged in that case with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession for sale and being under the influence of a controlled substance. She had been arrested earlier in August by Grass Valley Police on petty theft and drug paraphernalia charges. In October, Lee requested admittance to drug court and is set to return to court Nov. 21.
Lee has a number of prior criminal cases in Nevada County dating back to 2001, mostly involving theft, forgery and drugs.
