Deputies responding to an attempted assault ended up arresting a Penn Valley man after he reportedly fought with them.
A woman on Lark Street called 911 at 1:23 p.m. to report a man took a swing at her husband and was yelling and swearing.
Nevada County Sheriff's deputies responded to the residence and contacted Roy Allen Montgomery through the open window of his trailer, said Sheriff Keith Royal.
The deputy reportedly couldn't hear Montgomery clearly and asked him to step closer to the window, at which point he became agitated.
Montgomery then came out and charged the deputy, Royal said. When the deputy tried to stop him, Montgomery reportedly spun around and assumed a fighting stance.
He began fighting with deputies and was Tased, reportedly with no effect. He eventually was forced to the ground and hand-cuffed, Royal said.
Montgomery was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and while there, he reportedly slammed into one of the deputies.
He was booked into county jail on suspicion of resisting arrest, battery and assault on a peace officer, and was released on $2,500 bail.
