NU choir’s fall and winter concerts coming up
November 4, 2013
As our days grow shorter and most of us languidly arise in the darkness to begin our workdays, there is one thing you can be sure of: The Nevada Union High School Chamber Choir is already hard at work rehearsing for its fall and winter concerts, as well as preparing for the annual festive Madrigal Dinner.
There is nothing quite like hearing the powerful a cappella harmony of these teen vocalists floating up from the choir room as dawn breaks over the foothill campus of NU.
Not a “morning person,” you say? Well, you’re in luck because you can hear all of the Nevada Union High School choirs perform at the Don Baggett Theater in the coming weeks in a new, one-night performance format for each concert event.
Choir Director Rod Baggett has planned several compelling evening concert events this season, which feature all choirs, and you won’t want to miss them. Here is the fall and winter NUHS choir concert lineup:
Tickets are now on sale for the first annual fall Concert, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday. You will hear selections from the Concert Choir (back from its Baltic European Tour), Chamber Choir, Men’s and Women’s Chorus, Bel Canto and the Chorale. This one-night-only fall concert event is sure to sell out.
Advanced online ticket purchase is advised. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors at http://www.nuchoir.org.
The ever-popular Madrigal Dinner will be presented on the evenings of Dec. 6-7 at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center in Grass Valley. This sell-out holiday event features 15th-century costumed Chamber Choir performers heralding you as their guests at the royal feast celebration in the court of His Majesty, King Henry the 8th. Be sure to check the website for ticket availability and performance times.
Tickets are $25 and include dinner and entertainment. Tickets for this event sell quickly.
On Friday, Dec. 13, all of the Nevada Union choirs deck the halls of Don Baggett Theater with an array of winter holiday music for everyone. The concert begins at 7 p.m., and tickets will be available online in November and at the door.
Ticket prices are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. Advance purchase highly recommended.
