Meth, stolen gun found during drug bust in Nevada City
January 27, 2014
Narcotics detectives getting ready to serve a search warrant Thursday night ended up pulling their suspect over instead — and ended up arresting three people on drug and stolen property charges.
Member of the Nevada County Sheriff's Narcotics Task Force were about to serve a search warrant for a man identified as Michael Brien Young when he drove by at the intersection of Highway 49 and Coyote Street, said Sheriff Keith Royal.
Detectives detained Young and his two passengers, Jessie Leeanne Mulligan and Landon Kehn.
Mulligan was taken into custody on a warrant and told the deputies she had a large quantity of methamphetamine concealed on her person, Royal said — almost 3 ounces. Kehn was searched and reportedly was found with a small amount of meth; he also had six outstanding warrants.
Young was transported to his residence in the 16000 block of Bush Road and the house was searched. Detectives found a Smith & Wesson .38 special that had been reported stolen in 2011, Royal said.
They also reportedly found a large amount of drug paraphernalia, including scales, $790 in cash, and a small amount of meth.
Young, 28, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen property, was booked and released on $11,000 bail.
Mulligan, 25, of Grass Valley, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, and transportation and possession for sale, as well as a felony warrant. She was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
Kehn, 26, of Grass Valley, was booked on three misdemeanor warrants, three felony warrants, and possession of a controlled substance. He was being held in lieu of $120,000 bail.
