Medicare changes to be discussed

Seniors and the permanently disabled deserve accurate information on the 2013 Medicare changes, choices and benefits. The open enrollment period for 2013 started Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7.
Open community meetings are taking place in November to provide information on new options and direction on how to join a plan or make changes.
Community meetings in November:
— 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at Highgate Senior Living, 415 Sierra College Drive, Grass Valley
— 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Players Pizza, 10161 Commercial Ave., Penn Valley
— 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at Round Table Pizza, 10894 Combie Road, Lake of the Pines
— 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at Hilltop Commons, 131 Eureka St., Grass Valley
— 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at The Village, 400 Railroad Ave., Nevada City
— 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at Grass Valley Senior Apartments, 321 Dorsey Drive, Grass Valley
— 2 p.m. Nov. 28 at Players Pizza, 10161 Commercial Ave., Penn Valley
Meetings are free of charge. Seniors turning 65 and older as well as the disabled should attend. Medicare specialist Bill Anderson serves hundreds on Medicare in Nevada County as their advocate and will be presenting the information.
