‘Ice’ rink returns to downtown Grass Valley (video)
January 17, 2014
The ice rink will be returning to the Gold Miners Inn-Holiday Inn Express in downtown Grass Valley this weekend, Friday through Monday.
The rink will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday and 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday.
The Grass Valley Downtown Association has expanded this year's event into a full-on winter playland, which will include a faux ice-skating rink, a life-sized snow globe that you can step inside to take a free souvenir photo and a bounce house.
In addition, DJ Bobby G will entertain the crowd and food will be available from downtown restaurants Bear River Pasta and Gold Rush Burgers.
Admission is free. There is a $3 skate rental fee, but you can find free skate vouchers in The Union this week.
It will cost $1 for a five-minute bounce inside the snowman-themed bounce house; parking at the Holiday Inn Express is $5.
There will be parking spaces available for free in downtown Grass Valley.
The downtown association is only charging small fees for the bounce house and skate rentals to help cover the rental costs, said promoter Tara Walters.
