Homewood to open first chair lifts Thursday
December 21, 2012
Homewood Mountain Resort is scheduled to open its first chair lifts of the 2012-13 season on Thursday, Dec. 20, offering peak to shore skiing and riding with scheduled operations of the Madden Triple Chair and Old Homewood Express high-speed quad.
"This is great news for all skiers and riders," said Kevin Mitchell, Homewood's general manager. "The snow on the upper mountain is absolutely fabulous — light, cold, fluffy powder that's going to be a lot of fun to ski or ride for those lucky enough to get up there and enjoy it."
In addition to operating the Madden and the Old Homewood Express chair lifts, Homewood's groomers will be buffing out the classic Homeward Bound beginner run from mid-mountain to Homewood's South Lodge, meaning Homewood will offer its signature top-to-bottom lake-view beginner route — Rainbow Ridge to Homeward Bound — along with plenty of intermediate groomers and powder-filled tree runs on Thursday.
Homewood's North Lodge will offer full dining and bar options, along with all services including rentals, retail and the brand-new Madden Coffee specialty coffee window. Shuttle service will run between the South and North lodges to return customers to the Madden chair from the South Lodge.
With more snow in the forecast through the week, Homewood is planning to open additional chair lifts and terrain as conditions permit.
