Grass Valley’s Humpty Dumpty Kitchen to host Fire Safe fundraiser
September 10, 2013
Humpty Dumpty Kitchen will host a spaghetti feed fundraising dinner for the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County 4-7 p.m. Wednesday.
Humpty Dumpty Kitchen was ravaged by fire in January 2012 and reopened in March of this year.
Sept. 11 marks the 25th anniversary of the 49er Fire, which destroyed 312 structures and scorched over 33,000 acres in western Nevada County. The fundraiser benefits the Fire Safe Council, a nonprofit, local volunteer organization dedicated to making the community safer from catastrophic wildfire through fire prevention education, fire break clearing projects and creating firewise communities.
“The Hodges family is very supportive of fire prevention and felt this would be a great way to thank the firefighters, as well as provide funding for the important programs the Fire Safe Council offers to the community,” said owner Randy Hodges.
“Humpty Dumpty Kitchen has been a landmark in our community for many years. They provide a great meeting place, fabulous food as well as good jobs. I worked there when I was in high school. We’re very grateful to the Hodges family for helping the council by hosting the dinner.” said Fire Safe Council Executive Director Joanne Drummond.
Tickets are $10 and are available online at the Fire Safe Council website at http://www.areyoufiresafe.com or at the door the night of the event at 1711 East Main St., Grass Valley.
