Grass Valley man busted with cocaine, ecstasy

Clinton Lee Nicholson, a 21-year-old resident of Grass Valley, was arrested just after midnight on Saturday morning after deputies from the Nevada County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop due to a passenger-side tail light that was out.

County sheriff's personnel identified all four of the vehicle's occupants and arrested Nicholson, a passenger, on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. During the subsequent search of his person, deputies allegedly discovered a hash pipe, a small quantity of suspected cocaine and one tablet of suspected ecstasy.

After being transported to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, Nicholson informed correctional officers that he was still in possession of contraband, according to Sgt. Tim Werner with the sheriff's office. A plastic baggy was subsequently removed from Nicholson's pants, which allegedly contained 40 to 50 additional tablets of suspected ecstasy.

Nicholson was booked on multiple charges of possession, transporting and possession for sale, as well as driving on a suspended license. He was held on $35,000 bail but released later that morning at approximately 8:30 a.m.
