Giving Tree a huge success

The holiday season at Child Protective Services was a huge success again this year, according to Nevada County Executive Officer Rick Haffey.

Giving Trees were at Grocery Outlet, Raley's, Nevada County Courthouse and at the Rood Government Center, Haffey said in his Friday memo.

Child Protective Services also received many gifts from Paula Christensen, who does a local toy drive for Kelsey's Kids, knitted items and gifts from the Foothill Fiber Guild, gifts from the staff at Diamond Pacific Lumber and also from the staff at Caltrans.

Child Protective Services received more than 50 baskets filled with food for the families from Twin Cities Church and their parishioners. More than 200 gifts were received in total. The community response was truly appreciated and had a positive impact on the families, Haffey said in the memo, adding that when delivering the gifts, there were many tears and words of thanks and appreciation.
