Four arrested on warrant searches in Nevada City
March 5, 2014
Narcotics detectives served a search warrant Thursday at the Nevada City residence of a man they had arrested on Feb. 11 and arrested him for the second time after they reportedly found drugs and guns.
Jerry Andrew Valizan, 60, had been arrested the week prior when he reportedly arrived — with 10.5 grams of methamphetamine packaged in 15 individual baggies — at the door of a residence that was being searched by detectives because a probationer lived there.
Members of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force got to Valizan’s residence in the 300 block of South Pine Street at about 11:15 a.m. and detained him as he was leaving, said Deputy Mark Hollitz.
They reportedly found several grams of methamphetamine in his pockets.
A search of the residence uncovered several more grams of meth, for a total of 7.5 grams, Hollitz said.
They also reportedly found a loaded sawed-off shotgun and a loaded .22-caliber pistol.
Valizan was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and was released on $11,000 bail. He faces additional charges of being armed in the commission of a felony and committing a felony while on bail, Hollitz said.
A woman at the residence, Dixie Robin Lacey, also was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and was released on $11,000 bail.
Task force members served a second warrant Thursday, on the 29000 block of Highway 49, at the residence of Gabriel Perkins, 38.
They reportedly found 1 ounce of heroin, several grams of meth, some unidentified pills, more than 50 needles and other drug paraphernalia.
Perkins faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia but was not booked into jail, Hollitz said.
A man and a woman at the residence were arrested.
Phelan Therese Burns, 27, was booked on suspicion of violating probation and was being held without bail. Lee Jacob Thompson, 35, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and was being held in lieu of $11,000 bail.
