Farmer’s Market coming to the Rood Government Center in Nevada City
May 14, 2013
The Nevada County Certified Growers’ Market will be relocating the Tuesday afternoon Farmer’s Market to the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City beginning June 4, and the market will run from 2-5:30 p.m.
The Nevada County Certified Growers’ Market is also the operator of the Saturday Market at the Historic North Star House and the Thursday Penn Valley Market. The market will be working to ensure a diversity of produce throughout the growing season and to bring in supplemental products as well.
The new location provides easy access, level terrain and accessible parking for all residents so that they may easily stop by and purchase their fresh produce. A key goal of the market is to increase access to and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for all residents of Nevada County, with special attention given to reach out to the lower income population.
The market will be used to help CalFresh customers learn how to use their Electronic Benefit (EBT) cards at this and other local certified farmers markets to help obtain fresh and healthy food choices for their families.
There also will be an outreach booth at the market, which will provide education and food demonstrations promoting the development of healthy eating habits.
