Executive Director Robert Trent resigns from Sierra Commons
April 14, 2013
Sierra Commons has announced Robert Trent’s resignation as the organization’s executive director.
Trent accepted the job as the leader of the Economic Resource Council about two months ago.
Trent submitted his resignation during the Sierra Commons board of directors meeting on March 21, 2013.
“While Sierra Commons’ community is stepping up and becoming more engaged, I must turn more of my focus to my new role as Executive Director of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council,” he said in a prepared statement Thursday.
Trent will continue to serve as a Sierra Commons board member, but will not be involved in they day-to-day operations, he said.
Trent said the Sierra Commons has yet to determine whether it will hire a new executive director, but predicts the business incubation nonprofit will continue to serve as instrumental part of the private sector.
“As founder and Executive Director of Sierra Commons I was able to help the organization mature through the creation of a strong board, the implementation of effective programs, and the introduction of co-working into Nevada County,” Trent said.
“With the help of many volunteers, the vision of Sierra Commons is now a reality.”
Sierra Commons recently moved to a new location on Searls Avenue in Nevada City, which will allow for the physical space to help promote a collaborative atmosphere, Trent said.
