Deadline extended for TEDxYouth@GrassValley
September 18, 2013
Innovative thinkers and doers from Nevada County and nearby Sierra Nevada Foothills are encouraged to submit their idea worth spreading for the inaugural TEDxYouth@GrassValley, organized by Sierra College Nevada County Campus and TEDxGrassValley.
TEDxYouth@GrassValley, an independently produced event, operated under license from TED, will webcast the programming and talks from TEDYouth along with presenting local speakers Nov. 16 at Sierra College Nevada County Campus. Those interested in being a speaker at the event need to apply by Oct. 4.
This year’s theme of Art and Innovation offers a playful space to discover creative capacity and build on existing dialogues exploring the critical role the arts play in cultural and economic innovation.
Nevada County’s rich history of cutting edge technologies and its talented arts community provide a unique lens through which students, educators, artists, scientists and entrepreneurs can share success stories and current research, inspiring works of art and innovative models.
Each speaker will have 18 minutes to inform and inspire participants. Speakers will have the opportunity to work with a professional coach on their ideas and presentations.
TEDYouth is a day-long event for high school students that includes live speakers, hands-on activities, demonstrations and an opportunity for the youth attendees and speakers to connect. TEDYouth coincides with more than 100 self-organized TEDxYouthDay events happening worldwide.
