Bringing Bluegrass back: Nevada County Fairgrounds hosts 42 annual Father’s Day event

The 42nd annual California Bluegrass Association's Father's Day Festival is currently in full swing at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, bringing together spectators and talent from all over for one defining purpose — bluegrass music.

Started out as a small gathering in the back parking lot of the fairgrounds, it has grown into the anticipated annual event, which has drawn approximately 4,000 bluegrass music lovers for the four-day festival.

RVs and tents now fill the back lots of the festival, though some keep to the camping area to jam with others and never make their way to hear the main stage acts.

A three-day music camp for musical youth, Kids on Bluegrass, was held prior to the festival and culminated with a performance Friday afternoon on the main stage.

The festival continues today and tomorrow, with Saturday tickets priced at $60 for adults, and Sunday tickets priced at $45 for adults. Music plays on the main stage until 11 p.m. and Sunday until 4 p.m.
