Bobby Cameron of Nevada City arrested in crash that sent man to hospital
October 24, 2012
A Nevada City man remained in county jail on DUI charges after he allegedly caused a crash that sent another man to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Grass Valley Police received multiple calls reporting a reckless driver in an SUV in the area of East Main Street and Hughes Road a little after 2 p.m., said Sgt. Alex Gammelgard.
As officers were en route, more callers reported the SUV had been involved in an accident at East Main Street and Sierra College Boulevard.
The callers reportedly said the SUV had been driving at a high rate of speed at some points, and apparently the driver had blown out one of his tires but continued driving, Gammelgard said.
The driver of the SUV had allegedly rear-ended a pickup truck at the red light, causing that truck to be pushed into the intersection.
The 70-year-old driver of the pickup, a Grass Valley man who was not identified, was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, treated and released, Gammelgard said.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Bobby Neil Cameron, 20, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He was booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, where he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
