Big Oak Valley fire drawing major resources

A fast-moving vegetation fire off Hutto Road was reported at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, with numerous resources responding.
The fire was reported to have grown to about 37 acres as of 8 p.m. off Keller Road, near Hutto Road. There also were spot fires.
Evacuations were put in place for Keller Road, according to Cal Fire.
In addition to Cal Fire. firefighters responded from Pen Valley, Smarstville, Rough and Ready, Grass Valley, Ophir Hill and Nevada County Consolidated, U.S. Forest Service and Beale Air Force Base.
Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers assisted with diverting traffic and clearing the roadway of bystanders, and were released a little after 8 p.m.
One structure, as well as an RV, was reported to have burned.
At 8:30 p.m., a Cal Fire spokesman said the forward progress of the fire had been halted and there was 40 percent containment. Tankers were being released, and a helicopter was ordered to fly over the area Tuesday morning.
