Alleged Lime Kiln break-ins caught on camera

Killian Quinones

A man who allegedly broke into a Lime Kiln-area residence, ate the homeowners' food and then broke into a school bus to sleep, remained in county jail Tuesday.

The homeowners on the 10000 block of Daniels Way called 911 to report the break-in Thursday night, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.

The couple had returned home at about 9 p.m. and the husband saw a man running down their driveway, Royal said.

They then noticed a bottle of creamer in the living room, as well as the wrapper from a granola bar. The couple then reviewed video from their surveillance cameras and saw the man inside their home, drinking a Pepsi and eating a snack bar, Royal said. The man allegedly ran out the back door as they came home.

At 6:30 a.m. Friday, a bus driver at Lime Kiln Road and Highway 49 reported that he found a man inside his bus who fled on foot, according to dispatch reports.

A deputy located the man, identified as Killian Scott Quinones, 21, and found he was on probation out of Sacramento County, Royal said.

Quinones reportedly denied breaking into the residence and bus, saying that didn't sound like anything he would do.

He eventually admitted to having been hungry, Royal said.

Quinones was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary; he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
