A JazzArt Exhibit at Summer Thyme’s at Booktown

Summer Thyme’s at Booktown in Grass Valley is hosting an exhibit of JazzArt with E.J. Gold, Kelly Rivera, R.C. Trice, Leila Currah and Aviko through the end of April.

“The art enlivens the dining experience,” says Summer Thyme’s owner Amy Cooke, “and our customers have enjoyed the show.”

JazzArt was onstage with Wynton Marsalis at his concert here in 2001, and since then has been all over the country backing up such jazz greats as Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Toots Thielemans, and Roberta Gambarini. JazzArt most recently appeared onstage with another Marsalis, Wynton’s brother Delfaeyo, at the 90.9 KXJZ Jazz Series at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts last November.

“This is fun,” says HEI JazzArt curator Beverly Korenwaser. “We’re happy once again to share JazzArt with our friends and community here. When we’re onstage at a performance, we’re showing huge canvases seven feet wide by 11 feet high – which totally transform a performance space. We’ve scaled it down a bit to fit the Summer Thyme’s venue and we think it creates a dynamic and inviting atmosphere for their meetings, for writers, for people of all ages having a latte with their laptops.”

Summer Thyme’s at Booktown is located at 134 S. Auburn St., (530) 274-9866. For information on JazzArt, visit http://www.hei-jazzart.com, or call (530) 271-2239.
