Has this man knocked on your door?
December 1, 2016
If not, you either weren’t home or it’s only a matter of time.
Meet Lucas Mijares, who just celebrated the grand opening of his new Edward Jones office in Grass Valley next to the Nevada County Fairgrounds on January 7th. Lucas and his wife, Becca, moved to Penn Valley from Orange County in the summer of 2014 to begin his journey with Edward Jones and and to live where his wife was raised. Becca is a math teacher at Ghidotti Early College High School and a full time mom to their son, Brooks, who is nine months old.
Mijares attributes most of his early success to his old fashioned practice of going door to door throughout Western Nevada County and introducing himself to the community, something he learned from his two biggest mentors, father-in-law Torrey Bowman, and grandfather-in-law, Jeff Wells, who are both Edward Jones Financial Advisors in Grass Valley. “Some of my strongest and most trusted relationships are with the clients who I met at their doorstep.”
Lucas prides himself on gaining a personal relationship with each of his clients in order to best serve them. That includes listening to each client’s unique needs and developing the best financial plan to fit their budget and lifestyle. Edward Jones offers a full range of investments, life and disability insurance, and long term care products. Edward Jones even offers socially responsible investments for those who want to invest in companies that share the same ethics and philosophies that they do.
Regarding the stock market fluctuating in recent years, Lucas says, “Although there have been dips in the market, the overall trend for the past century has been exponential growth.” When the dips do happen, Lucas recommends to either hang tight, or consider putting more money in and buying investments that are selling at a great value. His simplest way of explaining this philosophy is his practical example of a Black Friday Sale. “The day after Thanksgiving, we read horror stories of people stampeding into stores searching for items that are at extreme discounts. That’s the same mindset I try to implement with my clients when we face volatility in the market. I want my clients to view down markets as opportunity to possibly put extra money that they have in. More importantly, it serves as an excellent time to review with my clients and make sure the investments we put in place are still appropriate for them and their risk tolerance.”
Regarding the recent stock market volatility we’ve seen in 2016, Lucas confidently stated, “Investing for the long term is a lot like a roller coaster. The last time I checked, the only ones who get hurt on roller coasters are the ones who decide to jump off while it’s still moving.”
When he’s not in the office or knocking on doors, Lucas spends as much time with his immediate and extended family as possible. He also attends Crossroads Church and serves in the community in his new role as an Ambassador for the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce.
