May 17, 2017
A firefighter attacking a You Bet Road blaze on Wednesday was taken to the hospital after he fell, a Cal Fire official said.
Firefighters responded at 11:02 a.m. to the blaze in the 15000 block of You Bet Road. The residents had fled the two-story home when first-responders began attacking the fire, officials said.
At some point a firefighter with the Ophir Hill Fire Protection District fell, leading others to remove him from the home and take him to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, a communications operator said.
The firefighter had moderate injuries, said Daniel Ramey, public information officer with the Peardale Chicago Park Fire Protection District.
It took firefighters about 40 minutes to control the blaze, which damaged about 50 percent of the home. No other structures were damaged and no other injuries reported, the operator said.
The fire's cause is unknown and remains under investigation, Ramey said.
