High-risk sex offender arrested for allegedly failing to register

Federal marshals arrested a high-risk sex offender who had failed to register, and allegedly discovered a “decent amount” of methamphetamine in his vehicle, Wednesday afternoon. Nathaniel Opondo Hubbert, 31, has been out of registration since October 2012, according to the Megan’s Law website; the nature of his conviction was not available. According to Deputy U.S. Marshal Frank Newsom, Hubbert has ties to Nevada County and members of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force became aware that he was in the area. “They got a tip he was in the Idaho-Maryland Road area, and he was observed getting in a …
