Tax measure, $600k grant on Nevada City Council agenda

Today's meeting of the Nevada City's Council is poised to be a brief one, with no old business to address on the agenda and only an resolution informing voters about the city's November tax measure scheduled under new business.

If approved by voters, Measure L would impose a 3/8-cent sales tax on the purchase of goods and services within Nevada City for five years.

The council is also poised to review correspondence on the city being awarded a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant for the city's business micro-enterprise program.

Council is also scheduled to be addressed by Caleb Buckley, director of Yuba River Charter School, about the school's first year at the old Nevada City Elementary School site.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is held at Nevada City Hall, located at 317 Broad Street. Agendas for the meeting are available at the meeting and staff reports on specific agenda items can be found at
