Nevada County supervisors to meet for first time in 2013

The Nevada County board of supervisors is expected to appoint Hank Weston, District 4 representative, as the chair of the five-person board for the 2013 calendar year during the first regular meeting of the new year, according to supporting documents attached to the meeting agenda.

Weston will join Supervisor Nate Beason on the Budget Review Committee. The important committee meets frequently in the spring in an attempt to help staff craft a budget for the pending fiscal year.

If the committee assignments are adopted as presented in the documents, Supervisor Ed Scofield will continue to serve on the Economic Resource Council and the California State Association of Counties boards.

Beason will continue in his role on the Regional Council of Rural Counties, an increasingly important organization that represents the interests of several rural counties at the state and federal level.

Supervisor Terry Lamphier will serve on the Northern Sierra Biomass Task Force and the Sierra Economic Development Corporation. Biomass has become a salient issue in the region with Placer County's recent approval of a two megawatt facility slated to be constructed at the Cabin Creek Facility near the eastern county border.

Richard Anderson, the newly elected District 5 Supervisor replacing past chairman Ted Owens, will serve on many of the Truckee-based committees, including the Truckee River Basin Water Group, Truckee River Watershed Council and the Truckee Tahoe Airport Land Use Commission.
