Dance a “Deep Sea” at Miners Foundry
Three bands, 14 band members in total. Such adds up to a lot of high energy music Friday in Nevada City when dancers claim the floor at the Foundry.
Blue Turtle Seduction comes back to Nevada City after recently playing to a sold-out house at The Fillmore in San Francisco. JamBase, a database of band and concert information about jams across North America, said about the show: “South Lake Tahoe’s Blue Turtle Seduction started the evening off with a high energy set of fierce new-grass, rock and reggae-funk. Blue Turtle Seduction’s lyrics tend to cleverly focus on the positives and always push the good vibe … After dropping a huge cover of Outkast’s “I’ll Call before I Come,” the band finished with a massive jam that left the crowd buzzed, primed for the rest of the evening.” Check out the band’s new CD, “Deep Sea Rodeo,” available at Record Connection, Grass Valley.
San Francisco’s Tracorum does traditional roots music in a new way, says the group’s pianist Fletcher Nielsen. “We’re a rock ‘n’ roll band playing all original music – rock, soul, reggae, R&B, Latin and hip-hop.” Hear tracks from Tracorum’s album “Rock n Soul” at http://www.tracorum.com or MySpace.
Free Peoples has a style that fuses bluegrass, folk and jazz. Their members come from various projects, most notably The Trichromes, a side project of the Grateful Dead’s Drummer Billy Kreutzmann.
With a name like “Deep Sea,” mermaids will definitely feel welcome at this show. Costumes and glitter are most welcome, say its producers. An all-ages show, rumor has it that a great-grandmother intends to be there, boogying with the best of them.
