Nevada County Police Blotter: Hitchhiker ‘looking for trouble’

Grass Valley Police Department

Thursday

7:23 a.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Kidder Avenue reported two transients walked by and left a new-looking bike in front of the caller's house. The caller felt it may have been stolen. The caller called back saying the bike was gone.

10:33 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block Mill Street reported a large, black suitcase stashed in the bushes.

4:02 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of West Empire Street reported his van was stolen again.

6:25 p.m. — A caller near the corner of South Auburn Street and Bank Street reported a probationer in a sleeping bag drinking steel malt liquor.

4:07 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of McKnight Way reported a woman harassing employees. A second caller reported the woman banging on doors. A person was arrested on charges of four counts of misdemeanor failure to appear.

11:18 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Lake Wildwood Drive reported he was just phone scammed. He said he was scammed because he believed an unknown person recorded him saying "yes" on the phone. The caller said he'd call back if he notices any fraudulent activity on his accounts.

12:10 p.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Harter Place reported an elderly man saying "sell them bracelets." The caller then advised he was trying to call 913 and said he was fine.

12:58 p.m. ­— A caller from the 26000 block of Bloomfield Graniteville Road reported receiving a written complaint and photos regarding damage done by loose cattle.

3:37 p.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Gas Canyon Road reported a person returned and was causing a disturbance. A person was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer and unreasonable noise.

3:48 p.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Lower Colfax Road reported a sketchy person showed up at her house selling meat. The caller thought they were casing the neighborhood.

4:10 p.m. — A caller near the intersection of Cameo Drive and Highway 49 reported that after getting off the bus, the kids were followed by a van with tinted windows and a driver wearing a ski mask.

10:16 p.m. — A caller near the corner of Deer Park Drive and Slate Creek Road reported a man standing on the side of the road hitchhiking toward town and making the caller feel uneasy because he was possibly "looking for trouble."

12:10 a.m. — A caller from the 17000 block of Selby Lane reported a man and woman coming to the door asking for help. The caller said they indicated they had vehicle issues and were stuck on a stump. The caller said they left but were close to her property. Officers made contact and they were looking for their lost dog.

12:16 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Main Street reported four or five people behind the building drinking and causing a noise disturbance.

4:29 p.m — A caller from the 200 block of Commercial Street reported being offered drugs in the parking lot.
