Nevada City man seriously injured in morning fight
April 25, 2014
A fight involving two men in Nevada City Wednesday morning ended with one being flown to a Roseville hospital in serious condition.
Nevada City Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Zion Street at about 1:30 a.m. in response to a report of numerous people in the street yelling, according to dispatch reports.
Officer Sean Mason contacted a man identified as Galen Walter, 23, who told him he had been in a physical fight, said Sgt. Paul Rohde. The other man reportedly had left the scene with a woman in a Toyota Tundra.
Grass Valley Police officers located the Toyota on the 400 block of Railroad Avenue and found the man had sustained major injuries to his face from blunt-force trauma, Rohde said.
He was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and was in serious condition, Rohde said. His identity was not being released.
Walter told officers he had gone to his parents’ residence on Zion Street but found his mother there with a man who was not his father, and a fight ensued between the two men.
Walter reportedly assaulted the man with his hands and his feet; he apparently was wearing boots. No other weapon has been identified, Rohde said Wednesday afternoon.
Walter was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing great bodily injury and has been booked into county jail. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
