A man and woman ended up in jail, and their 9-month-old baby was taken into protective custody, after investigators served a search warrant at a residence on Gold Cone Drive.
The chain of events that led to charges against Julianna Risdal, 20, and Timothy Woolley, 26, was “very convoluted,” said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.
Sheriff’s investigators went to the residence on an unrelated investigation Saturday afternoon, Royal said.
Woolley was contacted and reportedly had scratches on his arms, face and neck.
He also had blood all over his shirt, which proved to be fake blood, Royal said, adding that Woolley apparently had splashed himself with the fake blood to gain more sympathy from Risdal, his estranged girlfriend.
Risdal was leaving Woolley because “he had had relations with her best friend,” Royal said; Risdal reportedly had “beat on” Woolley and caused his injuries. During the search of Woolley’s residence, deputies allegedly uncovered 13 pounds of marijuana and a loaded shotgun.
Risdal was subsequently contacted and found to have a black eye and bruises, Royal said.
She reportedly told deputies that Woolley had beaten her because he found out that she had been on Craigslist, trying to meet someone new.
Woolley was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse, child endangerment, possession of marijuana for sale and being armed in the commission of a felony.
He was booked and released on $25,750 bail.
