Police blotter: Emus on the lam


Grass Valley Police Department

Wednesday

8:35 a.m. — A caller from Ridge and Hughes roads reported possible road rage.

10:55 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Joerschke Drive reported the theft of four bike tires, which had been located on Craigslist.

12:13 p.m. — A woman reported a drunken man spit on her vehicle and called her an obscene name at Hennessy School.

12:41 p.m. — A caller from the 800 block of Sutton Way reported a woman in a vehicle possibly dealing drugs; no drug activity was found.

3:04 p.m. — A caller from Highway 49 and South Auburn Street reported four or five men partaking in drug activity; they were moving on.

3:05 p.m. — A caller from Condon Park reported a 3-year-old boy wearing a fedora and sunglasses had wandered into the park, crossing the street by himself. The child’s mother then showed up.

3:22 p.m. — A woman reported she sent a $1,400 money order to her niece, but it was a scam.

3:38 p.m. — A caller from Condon Park reported five or six juvenile boys in a physical fight behind the skate park.

4:04 p.m. — A woman reported a man picked up her anxiety medication while she was out of state.

4:17 p.m. — A caller from Mill and West Main streets reported a woman was hit by a vehicle. A report was taken.

5:47 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Idaho-Maryland Road reported a person took a gas card and was using it to make charges.

5:59 p.m. — A caller from the 1700 block of East Main Street reported a shirtless man yelling at himself and huffing a paint van. He could not be located. The caller reported at 6:46 p.m. that the man was back.

8:04 p.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Butler Street reported a physical fight; no charges were requested.

9:26 p.m. — A caller from a church in the 800 block of West Main Street reported a suspicious man in a vehicle parked in the lot, who said he was there reading his Bible. He was gone when officers arrived.

NEVADA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Wednesday

9:20 a.m. — A man from the 23000 block of Perimeter Road reported his neighbor’s dogs attacked his dogs.

9:26 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Valley View Road reported the theft of marijuana plants and cash.

10:02 a.m. — A caller from Cedarsong Road and Highway 49 reported two emus in the road. The animals had left when deputies arrived. At 4:08 p.m., a caller from Highway 49 and Shoshoni Trail Court reported emus in the road. A caller from Newtown Road reported the emus at 4:09 p.m.; another caller reported then near Rush Creek Way. The owners was on scene.

12:33 p.m. — A caller from the 23000 block of Shadow Drive reported credit card fraud.

1:18 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Alta Sierra Drive reported a woman came in and said she had been assaulted.

1:19 p.m. — A caller from the 11000 block of La Barr Meadows Road reported a vegetation fire from a transformer blowing up.

1:27 p.m. — A caller from the 20000 block of Grizzly Creek Road reported burglary, criminal threats and vandalism.

3:34 p.m. — A man reported that he was trying to repo a vehicle in the 14000 block of Carrie Drive when the owner put a pistol in his face. No brandishing was fund to have occurred.

3:49 p.m. — A caller from the 20000 block of Dog Bar Road requested a welfare check on horses.

4:21 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Footwall Drive reported gunshots.

8:10 p.m. — A caller from the 21000 block of Burke Road reported identity theft.

8:33 p.m. — A caller from the hospital reported a man from Gray Lane believed his family was poisoning him.

Thursday

7:41 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Allison Ranch Road reported an assault.

NEVADA City Police Department

Wednesday

11:24 a.m. — A caller from Sacramento Street reported a woman screaming very loudly for 15 minutes. A man was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.

2:28 p.m. — A caller from Commercial Street reported a man lying on the sidewalk, throwing up.
