New charges, co-defendant in weapons, drugs case

New charges have been filed — and a co-defendant added — in a case dating back to January that involves assault weapons and drugs.

Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies had served a search warrant at a residence in the 25000 block of North Bloomfield-Graniteville Road on Jan. 2, reportedly finding an SKS assault rifle and a Sten submachine gun, ammunition, 3 grams of methamphetamine and a half-pound of processed marijuana. They also allegedly found two stolen motorcycles and stolen tires.

Boy James Wilkinson, 49, was arrested on suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

In Nevada County Superior Court Thursday, Deputy District Attorney James Phillips said after he received the investigative reports, he filed a superseding complaint that added more charges.

Wilkinson now faces two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, being a felon in possession of ammunition, two counts of vehicle theft, one count of possessing stolen property, one count of possession of a controlled substance while armed, one count of possession of marijuana for sale, one count of selling or transporting marijuana, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Wilkinson also acquired a co-defendant, Debra Aho, who is facing two counts of vehicle theft, one count of possessing stolen property, one count of possession of marijuana for sale, one count of selling or transporting marijuana, one count of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Both Wilkinson and Aho will be back in court on Sept. 5 to enter their pleas.
