Police report: Scam calls, vehicle burglaries


Grass Valley Police Department

Wednesday

8:49 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of East McKnight Way reported a juvenile had jumped out of a vehicle and was causing a disturbance and running in and out of traffic. The juvenile then got back in the vehicle. At 9:38 a.m., a caller reported the juvenile now was assaulting staff, biting, punching and hitting people with a stick. The juvenile was cited.

9:50 a.m. — A caller from the 600 block of South Auburn Street reported the theft of a storage container.

10:23 a.m. — A caller from a business in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue reported vandalism and an attempted break-in of a Pepsi machine.

10:56 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported a burglary and vandalism to a laundry room.

11:09 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Joerschke Drive reported possible stolen checks.

11:26 a.m. — A woman from the 400 block of Kate Hayes Street reported a vehicle had been broken into and items were missing.

12 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of South Church Street reported a man inside a business who was refusing to leave, then went outside, urinated on the building and came back inside. He could not be located. At 1:05 p.m., a caller reported he was back. He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing.

4:07 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of South School Street reported a possible embezzled vehicle.

4:50 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported the theft of a bicycle.

6:37 p.m. — A caller from the 500 block of Sutton Way reported a man with an open bottle kept falling down. He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

8:56 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Valley View Drive reported a person acting strange and throwing things, yelling and hammering a door.

9:52 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Dorsey Drive reported a theft from a vehicle, including a tool set, a backpack with chef’s knives and a magnetic ashtray.

Thursday

12:07 a.m. — A caller from West Main and North Church streets reported hearing a gunshot; another caller reported fireworks. Nothing was located.

Wednesday

10:05 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Elizabeth Way reported a vehicle was burglarized last night.

10:26 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Long Valley Road reported a cow and two calves were being neglected. A notice was posted.

11:53 a.m. — A woman from the 12000 block of Joann Way reported a vehicle burglary.

12:51 p.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Little Valley Road reported a person was taking private property from other mobile homes and then tried to run the caller over.

1:30 p.m. — A caller from Jayhawk Drive reported a burglary.

1:36 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Newtown Road reported the theft of a weed eater.

1:49 p.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Frontier Lane reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the DEA.

2:49 p.m. — A man from the 10000 block of Jitney Lane reported his son in China received a fraudulent call from someone saying they were the Grass Valley Police, and he needed to pay $600 to avoid an arrest warrant.

4:01 p.m. — A caller from Mooney Flat and Pleasant Valley roads reported underage drinkers and smokers.

4:14 p.m. — A caller from Tyler Foote Crossing and Cruzon Grade roads reported vandalism to mailboxes.

5:34 p.m. — A man from the 13000 block of Highway 174 reported the theft of a purse, a wallet and a phone. At 9 p.m., he reported following a vehicle involved in the theft and was pulled over at the Bear River bridge. A caller reported people in two vehicles at the bridge yelling at each other. The vehicles were then reported in Colfax, with the suspect vehicle having been hit by the victim’s vehicle. A burglary report was taken.

6:09 p.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Kingsbury Circle reported the theft of items from an unlocked vehicle.

6:24 p.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Black Bear Lane reported a physical fight involving numerous juveniles. One juvenile had a bloody nose and did not need medical attention.

11:50 p.m. — A man from the 10000 block of Gold Hill Drive reported an assault. He said a neighbor pulled him out of the house and assaulted him. He did not need medical attention. It was found to be mutual combat.

Thursday

2:37 a.m. — A woman from the 11000 block of Red Dog Road reported a man just hit her. He was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.

Wednesday

10:39 a.m. — A caller from South Pine Street reported a man with no shirt and a huge ax looking for someone. No crime was found.

Thursday

1:26 a.m. — A caller from Commercial Street reported a theft.
