Vehicle theft investigation leads to arrest of 2 Grass Valley men

Two Grass Valley men were arrested on a variety of charges Monday after one was identified as the suspect in a vehicle theft.

The vehicle was reported stolen on Saturday, said Grass Valley Police Sgt. Joe Matteoni. According to dispatch reports, it was located early Monday morning in the 600 block of East Main Street, and the stereo was missing from the vehicle.

Investigators linked James Jordan Zinola, 22, to the vehicle theft and learned he was at an apartment in the 100 block of Dorsey Drive, Matteoni said.

Zinola was at the apartment with another man identified as Eric Herman Geisick, 46, who allegedly gave a false name.

Officers allegedly found syringes and methamphetamine inside the apartment. Personal belongings from the vehicle also allegedly were located in Zinola’s possession.

Geisick was arrested on suspicion of giving a false identity, being under the influence of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and violating probation, as well as having an outstanding warrant. He was being held without bail.

Zinola was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, committing a felony while on bail, possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, second-degree burglary and being in possession of stolen property. He was being held in lieu of $21,750 bail.

Zinola has been arrested more than six times in the past six months; he was previously arrested Feb. 26 for suspicion of being in possession of stolen property after a woman in the 200 block of Joerschke Drive called Grass Valley police to report that someone had stolen her son’s mountain bike.

He then was arrested in early March for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, being under the influence and vehicle theft.
