Americans for safe access to host meeting

Americans for Safe Access-Nevada County recently expanded its schedule to accommodate members who live in the North San Juan area. Meetings will take place 2-4 p.m. the last Sunday of the month at the NSJ Senior Center, beginning Jan. 27.

On the agenda will be discussions about the cannabis cultivation ordinance, progress on mediation talks and updates on ASA-NC’s lawsuit against the county. The group will also discuss its plans for National Medical Marijuana Week that kicks off Feb. 11 and concludes with a free screening of the provocative film, “What If Cannabis Cured Cancer?” at the Odd Fellows Hall 2-4 p.m. Feb. 1.

Joe Axtell of Monsta Grow will give a demonstration of a new, greener lighting system that is guaranteed to reduce energy consumption by 60 percent. According to the manufacturer, the patented gas formula used in magnetic induction systems will produce “full spectrum” light that mimics the sun. The bulbs are guaranteed to perform for 10 years, and because these lights produce so little heat, it is unnecessary to use air conditioning to control room temperatures.

Yields are said to increase by 30 percent. Axtell is offering ASA-NC members a substantial discount on each unit.

The Grass Valley meetings will continue to be the second Tuesday evening of the month at the Nevada County Contractors Association.
