The Spirit of Christmas This year’s annual community Christmas event held at the Nevada City Veterans Hall was an occasion to be remembered. The two-day event Dec. 24 and 25 was again sponsored and served by the local nonprofit organization Divine Spark, along with 73 local volunteers. More than 500 meals were served with 20 turkeys donated by BriarPatch, 15 hams, 200 pounds of potatoes, assorted vegetable and vegetarian dishes and 100 pies donated by Flour Garden. Coffee was contributed by Starbucks and Sierra Mountain Coffee Roasters. All together 27 Grass Valley and Nevada City businesses donated to this event. …
