After an investigation conducted by Nevada Union administrators it was found that there is no evidence to suggest the eight suspended volleyball players consumed alcohol while attending a party two weekends ago, said NU principal Mike Blake.
“We have no evidence to link the girls to drinking or knowledge that they were involved in drinking,” Blake said.
Eight Lady Miners volleyball players were suspended from competition last week after it was discovered they attended a party where alcohol was being served. The benched players missed the final two games of the season.
The suspensions were for violating a team rule that forbids players from attending parties where alcohol is being served, said Blake. But, there is no evidence the girls consumed alcohol.
“(Nevada Union volleyball coaches) Kelly (Rhoden) and Marco (Salcedo) are convinced they were not drinking,” Blake said. “They were benched for simply being at the party.”
